Round robin (45 matches, 9 rounds) is impractical for one day. Single elimination with byes is the standard choice. Pool play (2 pools of 5) into knockout is common in volleyball and futsal.

10-Team Seeding and Bracket Layout

Standard 10-team single elimination: Seeds 1 through 6 get byes. Round 1: Seed 7 vs Seed 10, Seed 8 vs Seed 9. Round 2 brings in the top 4 seeds at minimum. Common contexts: NHL Conference, MLS playoffs, regional collegiate tournaments.
